I decided to look for ways to put my art technique into areas other than jewelry.  These kitchen spoons use traditional wire wrapping combined with Friendly Plastic. The wire was shaped and placed on the spoon. A piece of each color of plastic was cut and melted over the wire and onto the spoon with a heat gun.

We just finished the Eighth annual Seaview Manor Bazaar. It was great fun. Earrings were the big item for people this year.

I have been working on some upscale light weight earrings. These are Friendly Plastic fused onto one inch silver drop earring bases.

Jewelry in San Francisco

I have always loved San Francisco. A funky gallery called WonderlandSF downtown is featuring my jewelry. There will be trips to the city in my future.

Resin on Gold Hinged Bracelet

The New York Jewelry Mart had just the perfect gold hinged bracelet base for a project. A design was created with multiple Friendly Plastic colors. The piece was then heated and fused to the gold.

I created a large light weight earring by using coconut shell material as a backing.
Friendly Plastic was melted and fused to the coconut to complete the process.

These are resin stud earrings. They are very comfortable because of their feather like weight.

The Henderson Art Fair was on Mother's Day Weekend.  It was great fun and I sold lots of all my creations.
The cuffs are still the most popular. People are amazed at the lightness and flexibility. Earrings were also very popular as well as, my collars.

I read a blog about using old record albums. It said to melt the record in the oven until flexible at 200 degrees.  I did that and had to use a glove to pick it up. When it was warm I could easily cut it. The record had to go back in the heat a couple times to finish my cuts. This is a collar necklace that is embellished with a piece of brass and Friendly Plastic.

I need some opinions.  My cuff bracelets have been created in a number of different widths. They run from 1/2 inch to over 2 inches. What is in style for 2014. Any ideas? Let me know. Dr.alan2@gmail.com

We have been trying to come up with a new design for a necklace.  I have created a number of pendant styles that were dependent on a chain or cord to be wearable.  Leanne had an amazing idea to copy the form of a solid gold and silver collar she had.  I wrapped her collar with a layer of cardboard and covered it with foil. A heat gun was used to melt plastic resin onto the form.  It got really hot at I worked and the plastic began to run. After a little practice, a section was melted then set in ice water to cool. The sections came together and I had a collar.

I spent part of March on the gulf side of Florida.  While visiting Sarasota, I found an interesting boutique and gallery. The Artful Giraffe (artfulgiraffe, com) is in a funky house in downtown Sarasota.  We hit it off and my jewelry is on display there.

The Florida gulf waters are filled with interesting shells.  I collected shells in Venice and at Sanibel Island.

This is my first attempt at combining some shells into my jewelry. These are stud earrings.

I have been melting recycled plastic. Specifically #6 clear plastic food trays (The ones they put salads in at the store). This makes an interesting lumpy background to melt resin onto.
