I aquired some blank writing journals. Patterns were created in colored polymer clay. The clay was cured and fused to form covers for the books.

Lighted Polymer Pendants
I created flat sheets of clay mixing bright colors with a lot of translucent clay. The thin sheet of clay was formed around a wooden cone shape. The clay was cured until it was hard. A miniature LED light is placed inside. The light is suppose to shine through the pendant. My design is giving some interesting results.

Joining the Portland Polymer Clay Art Network has given me a wonderful resource for many of the frequently used techniques. It has been fun to experiment with the polymer in a group setting. The group members have a wealth of stories about strategies that give good results. This past week we used the Mokume Gane process. This pendant is a slice of clay from that process.

I read that they were discontinuing the production of Friendly Plastic strips. This is the material I have used to create all my colored jewelry. So, I started looking for new materials. Polymer clay seemed like a natural step since it contains a type of polymer resin similar to what I have been using. Here are some examples of my new pieces. What do you think?
